The members of the congregation, together with invited
friends, do try to do various social activities together either
locally or further afield. We have American suppers at which everybody
brings an item or two of food and drink which is shared amongst
the party. We also entertain ourselves musically and in other ways
at these gatherings.
Occasionally there is a guest speaker. We go on outings to local
country houses and gardens and theatres. We also go further afield
on trips to London and the occasional trips away for a few days
– recent ones being to the Eden Project in Cornwall, the Isle
of Wight and Lille,
We are lucky in having people in the church family who are great
at organising these. From time to time we invite members of other
congregations to spend the day with us and we are then able to take
them on trips around, say the huge harbour of Portsmouth and Gosport.
Day trips to the Isle of Wight are also popular.
